Gregory "Greg" Bretz (born December 19, 1990 in Anaheim ) is an American snowboarder . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Bretz has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2004 . He took his first podium finishes in the 2007/08 season with second places at the Chevrolet Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain and at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Tamarack . He drove his first FIS World Cup race in January 2008 in Bardonecchia , which he finished in 12th place. This was followed by a second place in Sungwoo , a third place in Gujo-Gifu and his first FIS World Cup victory in Stoneham . He finished the season in second place in the FIS World Cup halfpipe evaluation. In January 2010, he finished third at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Park City . A week later he took fourth place at the Winter X Games 2010 in Aspen . At his first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , he finished 12th. In the 2010/11 season he finished third in Breckenridge and second in Ogden on the Winter Dew Tour . In January 2012, he won The Burton Pro-Test in Mammoth . At the Snowboard World Championships 2012 in Oslo , he came in 38th place. In August 2012, he finished third at the Burton High Fives in the snow park . In the 2013-14 season he won the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge . He finished second at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona and the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain . In January 2014 he won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games 2014 . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came 12th.
