Gregory Charles Bennet

Gregory Charles Bennet (born April 7, 1963 in the state of Victoria ) is an Australian Roman Catholic clergyman and appointed Bishop of Sale .

Life

Gregory Charles Bennet attended the Catholic School in Melbourne and the Braemer Ecumenical College in Woodend . He then worked for the Commercial Bank of Australia . In 1986 he entered the seminary and studied at the Catholic Theological College in Melbourne. In 1992 he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Melbourne .

In 1996 he began studying psychology at Loyola College in Baltimore . In 1998 he studied at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome and obtained the licentiate in spiritual theology. From 2000 to 2005 he led the pastoral ministry of the Archdiocese of Melbourne and from 2004 to 2008 director of the Archbishopric for Evangelization. From 2007 to 2012 he was pastor in North Baldwin and then vicar general and moderator of the diocesan curia. Pope Benedict XVI awarded him on March 9, 2012 the honorary title of Papal Honorary Prelate . In addition to the office of vicar general, he was, among other things, head of the archbishop's personnel office and pastor of the parliament of the state of Victoria . His last pastor in West Brunswick was before his appointment as bishop .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sale on June 27, 2020.
