Patrick Michael O'Regan (born October 8, 1958 in Bathurst , New South Wales ) is an Australian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Adelaide .

Life

Patrick Michael O'Regan was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Bathurst on September 2, 1983 .

In addition to various tasks in parish pastoral care and at Bathurst Cathedral , he began postgraduate studies in 1994 with a study visit at the Institut Catholique de Paris , which he completed in 2002 with a licentiate in liturgical science and sacramental theology. During this time he was pastor in Wellington and then pastor in Blayney for five years . During the vacancy of the Diocese of Bathurst from November 2008 to April 2009 he was diocesan administrator . Then Bishop Michael Joseph McKenna appointed him chancellor of the diocese. In 2010 he became dean of the cathedral and vicar general of the Diocese of Bathurst.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sale on December 4, 2014 . He was ordained episcopal on February 26 of the following year by the Archbishop of Melbourne , Denis Hart . Co- consecrators were his predecessor Christopher Prowse , Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn , and the Bishop of Bathurst, Michael Joseph McKenna.

On March 19, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Adelaide. The inauguration took place on May 25 of the same year.
