The Diocese of Bathurst (Latin Dioecesis Bathurstensis , English Diocese of Bathurst ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia with its seat in Bathurst , New South Wales .

history

Pope Pius IX founded it on June 20, 1865 from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Sydney , to which it was also subordinated as a Suffragan diocese. On May 10, 1887, it lost part of its territory to the diocese of Wilcannia .
