The Archdiocese of Hobart ( Latin Archidioecesis Hobartensis , English Archdiocese of Hobart ) is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia with its seat in Hobart . It stretches across the entire Australian state of Tasmania and is divided into 25 parishes .
It was founded on April 5, 1842 as the Vicariate Apostolic Hobart from areas of the Apostolic Vicariate New Holland and Van Diemen's Land , and on April 22, 1842 it was elevated to a diocese.
