Julian Charles Porteous (born June 5, 1949 in Sydney ) is Archbishop of Hobart .

Life

The Archbishop of Sydney, James Darcy Cardinal Freeman , ordained him a priest on September 7, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Urusi and auxiliary bishop in Sydney on July 16, 2003 . The Archbishop of Sydney, George Pell , ordained him episcopally on September 3 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Edward Bede Cardinal Clancy , Old Archbishop of Sydney, and Bernard Cyril O'Grady OP , Bishop of Gizo .

On July 19, 2013, Porteous was named Archbishop of Hobart by Pope Francis . The inauguration followed on September 17 of the same year.
