The Diocese of Townsville (Latin Dioecesis Tovnsvillensis , English Diocese of Townsville ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Australia with its seat in Townsville , Queensland . It covers the north-central part of Queensland. The episcopal church is the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Townsville.

Pope Pius XI founded it on February 12, 1930 from cessions of territory by the Diocese of Rockhampton and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Brisbane as a suffragan diocese.
