The Roman Catholic Diocese of Broome (Latin Dioecesis Broomensis , English Diocese of Broome ) is in Australia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Broome in Western Australia .

history

By Pope Leo XIII. the Apostolic Vicariate of Kimberley was founded in Western Australia from the diocese of Perth in 1887 . Pius X established the mission Sui Iuris of Drisdale River (from 1971 Kalumburu) from territorial assignments . Through John XXIII. 1959 a change of name to the Apostolic Vicariate Kimberley , which had its official seat in Beagle Bay .

In 1966 Pope Paul VI raised the Vicariate Apostolic to the Diocese of Broome. In 1980 Pope John Paul II incorporated the Sui Iuris Mission of Kalumburu .
