The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Perth (Latin Archidioecesis Perthensis , English Archdiocese of Perth ) is in Australia located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church , based in Perth . The territory also includes the Cocos Islands and Christmas Island .

On May 6, 1845, the diocese of Perth was separated from the archdiocese of Sydney . In 1847 the Vicariate Apostolic of King George Sounde - The Sound from the Diocese of Adelaide was incorporated into the Diocese of Perth. In 1887 the Vicariate Apostolic Kimberley (now part of the Diocese of Broome ) and in 1898 the Diocese of Geraldton were spun off. In 1913 the diocese of Perth was raised to today's archbishopric by Pope Pius X. In 1954 the Bunbury diocese was spun off. 1982 saw the incorporation of the Territorial Abbey of New Norcia , the only Australian Benedictine abbey .
