William Joseph Foley

William Joseph Foley (born June 20, 1931 in Nedlands , Western Australia , † February 10, 1991 in Perth ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Perth.

Life

Foley was ordained a priest in Perth on September 12, 1954 by Auxiliary Bishop Lancelot John Goody .

On July 13, 1981, he was named Bishop of Geraldton by Pope John Paul II ; He received episcopal ordination from his predecessor, Francis Xavier Thomas , on September 9, 1981. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Perth, Lancelot John Goody, and the Bishop of Broome , John Jobst SAC .

On October 26, 1983, he was appointed Archbishop of Perth . The inauguration took place on December 14th of the same year.

He was the first Grand Prior of the newly founded Order Province of Western Australia of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
