Otto Raible

Otto Raible SAC (born November 27, 1887 in Stuttgart , Germany ; † June 18, 1966 there ) was a German religious priest , missionary and Roman Catholic bishop in Australia.

Otto Raible joined the Pallottine Order in 1907 . On July 9, 1911, he received the sacrament of ordination through the Bishop of Limburg, Dominikus Willi OCist .

In 1912 he was sent to the mission to Cameroon , but returned to Germany after two years for health reasons. During the First World War he worked at the military hospital in Mainz and as a military chaplain. He then took on tasks in Freising in Bavaria and in Trautenau (Trutnov) in the Giant Mountains . In 1928 he was sent to Western Australia by the Order .

On January 18, 1928, Pope Pius XI appointed him . as Apostolic Administrator of Kimberley in Western Australia . On January 18, 1935, Pope Pius XI appointed him. the Apostolic Vicar of Kimberly and titular bishop of Anemurium . The Bishop of Limburg , Antonius Hilfrich , donated him episcopal ordination on August 4, 1935 ; Co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Rabaul , Papua New Guinea , Gerard Vesters MSC , and the auxiliary bishop in Rottenburg , Franz Joseph Fischer .

On March 12, 1958, Pope Pius XII took his resignation. He returned to Germany and lived in Limburg an der Lahn and Stuttgart .

Otto Raible took part in the first two sessions of the Second Vatican Council in 1962 and 1963 . He died in Stuttgart on June 18, 1966. His grave is in the Limburg Pallottine Cemetery .
