Raymond Conway Benjamin

Raymond Conway Benjamin (born February 24, 1925 in Rockhampton , Australia , † March 7, 2016 ) was Bishop of Townsville .

Life

Raymond Benjamin studied theology and philosophy at the seminary in Brisbane. The Bishop of Rockhampton , Andrew Gerard Tynan , ordained him a priest on July 25, 1949 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Townsville on February 14, 1984. The Archbishop of Brisbane , Francis Roberts Rush , donated him episcopal ordination on May 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Leonard Faulkner , Coadjutor Archbishop of Adelaide , and Lancelot John Goody , Archbishop Emeritus of Perth .

On April 18, 2000, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
