Francis Roberts Rush

Francis Roberts Rush (born September 11, 1916 in Townsville , † July 21, 2001 ) was Archbishop of Brisbane .

Life

The viceregente for the diocese of Rome , Luigi Traglia , ordained him on March 18, 1939 as a priest .

Pope John XXIII appointed him Bishop of Rockhampton on November 7, 1960 . The Apostolic Delegate in Australia and New Zealand , Archbishop Maximilien de Fürstenberg , donated him episcopal ordination on February 8 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Guilford Clyde Young , Archbishop of Hobart , and Hugh Edward Ryan , Bishop of Townsville .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Archbishop of Brisbane on March 5, 1973. He attended every session of the Second Vatican Council .

On December 3, 1991, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
