Blood on the Dance Floor (often abbreviated as: BOTDF) is an American electro , house and screamo band from Orlando , Florida .
history
The band was formed in 2007. Dahvie Vanity, and later Garrett Ecstasy, began recording songs and releasing them independently. They released their first two albums in 2008, followed by many singles. In late 2009, Garrett Ecstasy left the band and Jayy von Monroe took his place as a screamer. The name "Blood on the Dance Floor" was a spontaneous idea from Vanity.
The band debuted with the album Let's Start a Riot . For the second album It's Hard to Be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World , Garrett Ecstasy took the place of Dahvie Vanity as an “unofficial background singer / shouter”. However, the Screamer was replaced by Jayy von Monroe in 2009. In October their third studio album Epic was released, the first album in which Jayy von Monroe is also involved, some older songs were even re-recorded with Monroe. On June 14, 2011, their fourth studio album, All the Rage , came out.
Her fifth studio album (R) Evolution was released on June 19, 2012 . The album entered the charts at number 42 and sold over 10,000 copies within the first week. It was initially planned that it would be released along with the compilation album The Legend of Blood on the Dance Floor . On June 20, 2012, the Extended Play, Clubbed to Death, which contains three new songs, was offered for free download via a Facebook application .
The band released an extended play entitled The Anthem of the Outcast on October 30, 2012. The Deluxe Edition contained the nine tracks as well as the three songs from the Clubbed to Death EP. The Revolution Pack appeared at the same time ; a re-release of the album (R) Evolution , including both extended plays. Shortly thereafter, they announced a new album entitled Bad Blood for September 3, 2013 . The first single I Refuse to Sink (Fuck the Fame) was released on February 19, 2013 and shortly afterwards the next two singles Crucified by Your Lies and Something Grimm .
One day after the release of Bad Blood , the "The Bad Blood Tour - Revenge Will Have It's Dates" started in San Antonio, USA. During this tour, Jayy and Dahvie came to Germany for the first time in their band history for two appearances (Cologne and Berlin). After no long break, the next single We're Taking Over with ex-Hollywood Undead singer DEUCE was released in February 2014 . On June 10th, 2014 the next EP called Bitchcraft was released on which an audibly dark sound is represented. A tour with the Millionaires followed .
This was followed by a short creative break for Blood On The Dance Floor as Dahvie and Jayy also worked on their solo projects. Dahvie released his first solo album as Master Of Death on April 4, 2015 and Jayy followed on August 28, 2015 as JayyVon with his solo album 10CMD . In the meantime, Blood on the Dance Floor have the new 5-track EP Cruel Pornography on August 7, 2015, which like Anthem of the Outcast is back in the rock genre.
For 2016 Blood on the Dance Floor have announced a new album. They are working with DJ Pickee on the new album and, according to Dahvie Vanity, want to go back to their roots. The next single Safe Word will appear in the spring.
On December 14th, Dahvie Vanity announced that the duo would split up after one final tour and the release of their latest studio album, Scissors . Dahvie Vanity had already planned a solo career under the pseudonym Sinners are Winners including a debut album of the same name.
On April 11, 2017, Dahvie finally announced that Blood on the Dance Floor was far from over and promised his fans to continue the band. A day later, he announced the name of the new album Kawaii Monster , which should be released on December 5th of this year.
In addition, Dahvie had announced a new single called Resurrection Spell for May 5th , which he wanted to release with the new band member, but he did so a day earlier. His current partner, Fallon, has officially been a member of Blood on the Dance Floor since May 4th, 2017 and can also be heard on the new single. A gig in Japan has been announced for the band on June 21.
