RIP 2006-2016 is the third best of compilation album by the US band Blood on the Dance Floor . It was released on December 24, 2016.

backgrounds

Even before the release of the jointly recorded studio album Scissors , the longtime lead singer, Jayy von Monroe , left the music project Blood on the Dance Floor due to personal differences and poor working conditions. After the separation, his former colleague Dahvie Vanity initially decided to end this and to devote himself to the music of his new pseudonym Sinners are Winners in the future. With RIP 2006-2016 a final career review should be published as a farewell, which includes songs from the debut album to the present. Rest in Peace , the only previously unreleased track on the compilation, was released as a single on November 11, 2016 and announced as the last Blood on the Dance Floor song. Just five months later, however, the project was re-established, in which the singer Fallon Vendetta von Monroes took place and after which several further studio albums were released.

The title RIP 2006-2016 does not refer to the period in which the included songs were released, as the oldest contribution is from 2008, but to the year the band was founded. The members of the compilation include Dahvie Vanity, Rebecca Fugate , Christopher Mongillo , Garrett Ecstasy and Jayy von Monroe. Only the former was involved in all titles. Matty M can not be heard , who was only part of the group on the single Horrifically Delicious, which was not included on the album . Guest musicians include Lolli Dolli , Lady Nogrady , Deuce , Joel Madden , Kerry Louise and Haley Rose on the compilation. The songs were produced by Christopher Mongillo, Rusty Wilmot , James Egbert , Stevie Blacke , Brandy Wynn , Dahvie Vanity and Noah Buchanan ; they were written by the participating members of the group.

The compilation includes material from a total of eight Blood on the Dance Floor studio albums, four EPs and an unplugged compilation. With The Reckoning! There is also a song from Dahvie Vanity's solo album Master of Death on the tracklist , but the single cover showed the band's name. The song Good Vibes Only was released as a single in 2014, but never on an official album or a commercially released EP (it was later to be found on the exclusive Ringleader EP, which was available for VIP guests on the Scissors Tour in 2016 ). The title Rest in Peace is the only song that was specially recorded for the compilation and was therefore not previously available on any release. IDGAF is included on the album in the new recording with Jayy von Monroe, while Scream For My Ice Cream can be found in the original version with Garrett Ecstasy as the singer - versions of both songs also exist with the other musician.

The tracks were selected regardless of whether they were released as a single. While many of the songs in the compilation were not released, a large number of the singles that the band brought out over the years are also missing.

Music and lyrics

Musically and in terms of content, the tracks cover several styles that the music project took on in the course of its career. While the titles on the first disc are mainly Eurodance and Electro-Pop , the second half of the work also contains rock songs from the subgenres Industrial and Metalcore ; a large number of the songs also have dominant dubstep and synth-pop elements. Up-tempo songs predominate on the album , but there are a few ballads on both discs . In terms of content, there are more and more humorous or strongly sexual texts, but also those about (sometimes failed) love relationships , bullying or dealing with rumors . The second disc contains a much higher number of more serious songs than the first.

Cover design

The cover of RIP 2006-2016 has death as the central motif , matching the title . Seen from belly up is Dahvie Vanity, lying on the floor with his eyes closed while several red roses surround him. His face is made up to resemble a skull . The colors of the scenery are dark and a misty haze covers the lower part of the picture. About Vanity search fuselage album title itself color is printed in big red letters the name of the band directly beneath much smaller. Both lettering are stylized in such a way that they represent running blood .

• There is a bug on the limited CD edition of the album. Instead of the song Unchained , the title Redeemer is wrongly heard a second time.
