Lest We Forget the Best of BOTDF is the first best-of compilation album by the US band Blood on the Dance Floor . It was released on February 19, 2010.

Background and content

Lest We Forget the Best of BOTDF was available exclusively on the group's 2010 tour . It includes tracks from the first two Blood on the Dance Floor studio albums Let's Start a Riot! and It's Hard to Be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World as well as the EPs I Scream I Scream and OMFG Sneak Peak . There are no previously unpublished songs on the work. Although Jayy von Monroe is shown on the cover and is the only other member mentioned in a text about the music project in addition to Dahvie Vanity, which can be heard on all songs , in the booklet , he was not involved in any of the songs. Instead, Christopher Mongillo , Rebecca Fugate and Garrett Ecstasy were active as band members in the phase in which these emerged . Dahvie Vanity was involved in every track as a songwriter , sometimes together with Mongillo or Ecstasy. The tracks were produced by Mongillo and Rusty Wilmot . Lolli Dolli appears as the only guest artist .

Music and lyrics

Lest We Forget the Best of BOTDF focuses on the first two years of publications. During this time, the style of the project was characterized by electronic background music, mostly in the Synth Pop or Eurodance style. The pieces of the group produced by Mongillo mostly use a mixture of dominant, catchy synthesizers and mostly in the background mixed guitars and drum computers . Rusty Wilmot, on the other hand, used pounding, hard kick drums that give the instrumentals a distinct techno twist. In the phase captured on the album, Dahvie Vanity still mainly used spoken vocals ; Conventional singing is only sporadic , mostly by Mongillo. Screamo is also used at individual points . In terms of content, the group still relied on provocative texts that explicitly deal with sex , violence and an exaggerated self-portrayal .

At the top of the picture, the words "Lest We Forget the Best of" can be read in curved, green capital letters, below the initials of the band in small letters , which run down from white to black.
