Border officer
A border officer is a professional function within some police organizations.
Federal Republic of Germany
The president of the Federal Police Headquarters is in personal union of the border officer Interior Ministry .
Bavaria
In Bavaria, the term coordinator for cross-border cooperation is used for this office . In the Bavarian police , it is in personal union in addition to the management of a police station for issues of border guards responsible respectively the security of the Federal limits in Bavaria and by the leadership department ordered .
They are mostly members of the higher service . The tasks include in particular:
- Exchange and control of police-relevant information for the entire border area
- Support of police operations and search measures in the border areas
- Supraregional control of border police and border policy work (e.g. readmission agreements , border clearance agreements , etc.)
- Establishing, arranging and maintaining contacts with security and police authorities in the common border area.
Bavaria - Czech Republic
On June 1, 1970, the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior appointed a border officer of the Bavarian Police for the first time for the border section of the then CSSR based in Furth im Wald . The border officer was a member of the Bavarian border police at the time .
The function of the border officer was performed in personal union by the respective head of the border police inspection in Furth im Wald in Bavaria .
Since 2004, two liaison officers from the Czech Republic and two liaison officers from the Federal Police as well as three language mediators have been assigned to the border officer .
On December 17, 2007, the liaison office in Furth im Wald was closed. The entire area of responsibility, both of the border officer and the liaison office, was assigned to the Joint Center (GZ) of German-Czech police and customs cooperation in Schwandorf .
Officials of the Bavarian Police, the Federal Police and the Czech Police work side by side around the clock in the Joint Center in Schwandorf. The GZ has a key function in the cooperation of the police authorities. In the event of a pursuit , the two police operations centers in Upper Palatinate ( Regensburg ) and Pilsen as well as the GZ are in contact by telephone.
