Gretel Schulze

Gretel Schulze (born December 31, 1948 in Velten ; † April 4, 2019 in Potsdam ) was a German cabaret artist and director .

Life

Gretel Schulze studied directing at the University of Film and Television Potsdam-Babelsberg and then worked at the Hans Otto Theater . At the beginning of the 1980s she directed plays such as Funfair zu Plundersweilern by Peter Hacks or Gavroche by Peter Ensikat . In addition, she was active as a chanson singer .

In 1996 she took over the management of the Potsdam cabaret Obelisk , which was founded in 1978 and of which she has been a member since 1990 and which she led until her death. As the artistic director of the house, she co-wrote many pieces and played them on stage.

In 2017 she staged an operetta for the first time with Franz von Suppés Die Schöne Galathée in the Biosphere Potsdam . She died after a short illness in the Ernst von Bergmann Clinic in Potsdam .
