Gray is an American electro dance pop duo from Los Angeles consisting of the brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha. In 2016 with Starving and in 2018 with The Middle they had two big hits that made them internationally known.

Band history

The Trewartha brothers made some remix versions in 2015 and put them online. They sent a Jack-Ü remix to Skrillex , who in turn drew Zedd's attention to them. He made the two known through a post, and when they released their own single Starving under the name Gray the following year , he took part. He also brought along the actress Hailee Steinfeld as a singer . The song was an instant hit internationally, reaching the top 5 in the UK and Australia, 12th in the US, and high rankings in many other countries. Worldwide the song got over 16 platinum awards, which corresponded to more than 5 million copies sold.

This was followed by other singles such as Adrenaline , again with Zedd, I Miss You with the women's duo Bahari and Crime with the Swedish singer Skott, all three of which were minor successes in the US dance charts, but received little attention. It wasn't until 2018 that they had another big hit, again with Zedd and this time with Maren Morris as the singer. The Middle was the song and again it brought numerous top 10 placements, including in England and the USA, as well as around 2.5 million sales equivalents. Above all, however, it was a dance hit that was one of the most successful songs on this hit list at number 1 on the US dance charts at 33 weeks. In addition, it was nominated for an award at the Grammy Awards 2019 in two main categories and once again in the pop category, even if it did not win any of them.
