Grief of War is a Japanese thrash metal band from Tokyo that was formed in 2002.

history

The band was formed in 2002 and consisted of the bassist and singer Manabu Hirose, the guitarist Ken Sato and the drummer Isao Matuzaki. The first rehearsals followed, before a first, self-titled demo was released in 2003. From June 2004, the group also went on tour, where they played together with Mnemic in March 2005 . The group's debut album followed in May 2005 under the name A Mounting Crisis… As Their Fury Got Released . The album was released through Yggr Drasill . The band consisted of Manabu Hirose, guitarist Hiroyuki Inoue, Isao Matuzai and Ken Sato on the album. After further appearances and some line-up changes, the work on the second album followed, with Hiroyuki Tanaka as the drummer. After the work on this was finished after a year, followed a performance together with Pain Division in Tokyo in November 2007. In the same month, the group also contacted Prosthetic Records , whereupon they reached a contract with this label. About this the debut album was re-released in February 2008. In May 2008, after a three-year search, the group found a permanent drummer in Masatomo Otani. In May 2009 the band played at the Tomahawk Metal Fest, before the second album Worship via Prosthetic Records followed in July of the same year . Then was Shane Gibson in the song Into the Void to hear as a guest musician. The album was mastered by Ted Jensen from The Sterling Sound .

style

According to laut.de, the band plays classic Thrash Metal, which is based on that from the San Francisco Bay Area and is therefore comparable in terms of sound to bands such as Forbidden , Exodus and Metallica . In addition, influences from German Thrash Metal bands such as Kreator and Destruction can be heard. Also Marc Halupczok from Metal Hammer music described in A Mounting Crisis ... As Their Fury Got Released as a mix of Bay Area- and German thrash metal, and especially as the German representative Destruction Grief of War come closest. The singing is reminiscent of that of Andreas Geremia von Tankard .
