The Grift is popularly the part of the Fossa Eugeniana that runs from the Dutch border to the confluence with the Dondert . While most of the Fossa Eugeniana has no water, the grift serves as a drainage ditch and has water all year round. She is the namesake of the farmers of the same name near Walbeck (Geldern) and the associated Griftenweg.
