The GRIN Publishing is a company based in Munich and Ravensburg , specializing in the publication of academic papers has specialized and other domestic, school and university work. Company history
GRIN Verlag was founded in 1998 and registered as a company in Munich in 2007 as an open trading company (OHG). In July 2008 the company changed its legal form from OHG to GmbH . With effect from July 1, 2008, Norderstedter Books on Demand GmbH , with which GRIN has been cooperating since 2006 to publish books online, acquired a minority stake in GRIN Verlag GmbH. The publishing house is a company of K5 Publishing.
Business model
According to its own information, by May 2018 the company had put 198,500 (mid-2011: around 188,000) school and university papers online and also offers print-on-demand publication of the papers with ISBN allocation. Each work is printed as the author submits it as a Word or PDF file, there is no proofreading. The authors must grant the publisher all rights as exclusive, spatially and temporally unlimited rights of use . Although GRIN advertises with the slogan “Author for free”, a flat rate of 50 euros will be charged for production and distribution with any sales proceeds from the print-on-demand version. The author receives 10 to 40% of the net sales price. The reputation of a self-publication through this self-publishing platform is therefore considerably lower than in appropriately designated specialist publishers , which have certain quality requirements for the publications they have selected and which also carry out proofreading that is appropriate to the respective content .
Term papers , presentations , bachelor theses and master theses are acquired not only on grin.com but also on the websites Hausarbeiten.de , Examicus.de and Diplomarbeiten24.de .
