Grizzly Bear is an American indie rock - band from the New York District Brooklyn . The band combines traditional and electronic instruments and is often assigned to psychedelic folk or folk rock . Their sound is dominated by acoustic guitars and harmony vocals.
history
Singer and songwriter Ed Droste started Grizzly Bear as a solo project after moving from Boston to New York in 1999 . Together with drummer Christopher Bear he recorded the debut album "Horn of Plenty" in 2004 . After the line-up with bassist Chris Taylor and guitarist Daniel Rossen was complete, the British label Warp Records signed the band and released their second album, Yellow House , in 2006 . Then Grizzly Bear intensified the tour activities and played with Radiohead and TV on the Radio , among others . In 2007 the EP Friend was released . In 2008 they played with Paul Simon at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and collaborated with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra .
The band achieved their commercial breakthrough in the summer of 2009 with the release of the album Veckatimest , which rose to number 8 on the US album charts and was also able to place in the album charts of various European countries.
Grizzly Bear contributed some of their pieces to the soundtrack of the 2010 film Blue Valentine .
