The Große Mützelburger See , in Polish Jezioro Myśliborskie Wielkie , is a lake in the north-eastern Ueckermünder Heide in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the West Pomeranian Voivodeship . The German-Polish border divides the lake in a north-south direction.

The area of the lake is about 114 hectares and its greatest depth 2.8 meters. The German part with a size of 56 hectares belongs to the municipality of Luckow in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald . The Polish part with 58 hectares is located in Gmina Nowe Warpno in Powiat Policki , where it is also the largest freshwater lake in the municipality. The water surface is 4.5  m above sea level. NHN .

The lake takes its name from the now Polish village of Groß Mützelburg ( Myślibórz Wielki in Polish ), which is located southeast of the lake and is therefore sometimes referred to as Groß Mützelburger See . The lake is connected to the Jezioro Myśliborskie Małe ( Small Mützelburger See in German ) via a ditch .

In the north, the Mützelburger Beeke forms the natural runoff of the lake and flows into the Neuwarper See . The water level was regulated by a weir at the outlet of the Großer Mützelburger See into the Beeke until 2007. Due to the ailing condition, the weir threatened to fail, which also represented an ecological barrier. Therefore, it was 2007/08 by a seven overflow thresholds existing Sohlgleite replaced, which ensures the continuity of the environmental body of water.
