geography
Other elevations on the Ostrong are the Kleine Peilstein ( 1024 m above sea level ) and the Kaiserstein ( 935 m above sea level ). Its name goes back to Emperor Franz I , who liked to climb the peaks around Münichreith from his summer residence at Schloss Luberegg .
After felling, the view from the summit of the Großer Peilstein to the north is clear (as of spring 2013). The much more comprehensive view, also in the direction of Laimbach am Ostrong, is offered by the rocky spur of the Kleiner Peilstein 300 meters further northeast (with a large summit cross and summit book).
Climbs
The most popular direct ascent to the Großer Peilstein (from Laimbach over the Schneidermauer and the Kleiner Peilstein) takes about 1¼ hours. For the way from Münichreith over the Kaiserstein, which last runs long on the ridge of the Ostrong, you need 2½ to 3 hours.
