Location of Großer Sand in Lower Saxony

The Große Sand is a settlement of Dalum in the municipality of Geeste in the district of Emsland , Lower Saxony . Around 500 people live here. The name was chosen because of the sandy soil. The Große Sand was founded because the residents of Dalum did not want the refugees from the former eastern regions to live in the village. The Große Sand is located near the Wietmarschen junction of the federal motorway 31 . The core of the community is the shooting club with 258 members.
