Großer Sund , English Great Sound , is the name of an almost circular bay in the area of the Atlantic Bermuda Islands.
Numerous islands surround the sound . a. Grand Bermuda to the east and south and Somerset Island , Boaz Island , Ireland Island South and Ireland Island North to the west. In the north, the Great Sound is open to the Atlantic with a passage width of around 2.5 kilometers.
The south-west coast of Grand Bermuda facing part of the Great Sound, which of two prominent peninsulas is confined, is called Little Sound ( Little Sound ).
There are many small and mostly uninhabited islands in the Great and Small Sound - with a total water area of around 20 km² .
