Grand Bermuda , also known as Bermuda Island , is the main island of the west Atlantic archipelago of Bermuda . In the center of the island is Hamilton , the capital of Bermuda.

The shape of the peculiarly bent island is reminiscent of a sloping fish hook , the eye of which is formed by Harrington Sound in the northeast and the hook of which is formed by the Great Sound in the southwest. In the northeast, the island borders on Castle Harbor .

Grand Bermuda is connected to its neighboring islands ( Somerset in the west and Saint David's in the northeast) via bridges or road embankments.
