The Große Zechliner See is located near Flecken Zechlin , a place in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in northern Brandenburg , and belongs to the Rheinsberg Lake District . The lake is about 1.8 square kilometers, max. 35 meters deep and has very good water quality (EU assessment of bathing water quality 2005). It is under nature protection .
The Zechlin Canal connects to the Black Lake to the west and the Repenter Canal to the east to the Zootzensee . This means that the Berlin waters and the Müritz can be reached.
The Große Zechliner See is part of the Zechliner waters, a so-called other inland waterway of the federal government. The Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office is responsible .
