The Große Haaler Gehege is a 700 hectare forest in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein .

The forest area is located between the villages of Nienborstel , Brinjahe and Embühren. In 2001 the entire area of ​​the Haaler enclosure was designated as an EU bird sanctuary . Parts of the forest are also designated as natural forests . Two of the natural forest parcels are part of the nature reserve “ Natural Forests in the State Forests Barlohe ”, which was designated as of June 30, 2017 .

The Haaler Gehege is a naturally managed forest with a high proportion of deciduous forest. There is also a sequoia tree, which is actually at home in the Rocky Mountains .
