The residential building at Großgartacher Straße 21 in the Böckingen district of Heilbronn is now a listed building.

history

The building was erected in 1899 for the employees of the Royal Württemberg Railway Inspectorate according to plans by the district building authority and the architect Hartmann. Hartmann also designed the neighboring building, Großgartacher Straße 23 . Another example of residential building architecture for railway employees is in Heilbronn at Schmollerstraße 22/24 .

The house Großgartach Road 21 is a traufständiger , three-story Sichtziegelbau. The facade is structured mirror-symmetrically by seven window axes. The rectangular windows on the ground floor each have a lintel from sandstone . Above each window there is a segmented arch in contrasting colored brickwork as the crowning of the window . The lintels on the two upper floors also take up this design element. The central window axis of the building consists of round-arched twin windows, which are each grouped together by a shared segment arch in exposed brickwork. The facade is also structured by horizontal strips of cornice made of contrasting colored brickwork. The two gables on both sides of the house are each two window axes wide, each have a rectangular twin window with a window garnish made of sandstone and an arched frieze below the eaves and are each covered by a protruding gable roof with visible carved lugs and beam heads.
