Großkötz is a district of the municipality of Kötz in the Swabian district of Günzburg . The parish village lies on both sides of the Kötzbach .
history
In 1931 excavations two kilometers north of Großkötz discovered the foundation walls of a villa rustica .
A Hartmann de Kez is mentioned as early as the 11th century. In 1312 the Neresheim monastery exchanged its goods in Großkötz for the Wettenhausen monastery . The possession of the Lords of Kötz went in 1408 as a fief of Mark Burgau to the Ulmer patrician family Ehinger , later than Ehinger of Balzheim into the baron were collected. The Ehinger family kept the fief until the family died out in 1743.
The municipality of Kötz was created on July 1, 1972 through the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities of Großkötz and Kleinkötz .
