Large stone graves near Lenzen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone graves near Lenzen were several megalithic graves of unknown numbers from the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Lenzen , a district of Karwitz in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district ( Lower Saxony ). They were destroyed in the 19th century. According to Johannes Heinrich Müller and Jacobus Reimers, they were south on the way from Dannenberg (Elbe) to Göhrde . The information is somewhat unclear, as the direct route between the two places (today's B 216 ) runs north of Lenzen; presumably a location near the south-running B 191 was meant. The graves had burial chambers, which were encased by mounds. The stones had been split and sold, the mound had been leveled. When Müler's investigation was carried out, only the mound of a grave remained. No information is available about the orientation, dimensions and type of grave of the systems.
