Great stone grave Quadendambeck

The large stone grave Quadendambeck was a megalithic burial complex of the Neolithic deep engraving ceramic culture near Quadendambeck , a district of the municipality of Apenburg-Winterfeld in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel , Saxony-Anhalt . The grave was destroyed in the 19th century.

The grave was about 3 km northwest of Winterfeld near Quadendambeck.

Research history

The facility was first documented in the 1830s by Johann Friedrich Danneil . When the great stone graves of the Altmark were taken up again in the 1890s , Eduard Krause and Otto Schoetensack discovered that the grave had since been completely removed in the course of the separation .

description

The grave was already badly damaged when Danneil was taken and apparently consisted of only three upright wall stones. During an excavation he came across several finds. Just below the surface of he found a ground flint - ax , another 1 m in depth. Other finds were a complete urn with a dashed rim and shards of a similar vessel.
