Gronau (formerly Alsheim-Gronau ) is one of two districts of the local community Rödersheim-Gronau in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Gronau is located in the eastern part of the local community and has grown together structurally with the neighboring town of Rödersheim. The Stechgraben touches the northern edge of the settlement.

history

The municipality of Alsheim belonged to the Electoral Palatinate until the French Revolution . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Alsheim was incorporated into the canton of Mutterstadt . Then the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 he was a member of the Landkommissariat Speyer ; from this the district office of Speyer emerged. From 1886 Alsheim was part of the newly created Ludwigshafen district office . In 1921 the community was renamed Alsheim-Gronau . The name Gronau is derived from Gronau Castle , which stood northeast of the town center until 1795. In 1928 Alsheim-Gronau had 390 inhabitants who lived in 60 residential buildings. The Catholics belonged to the parish of Rödersheim , the Protestants to that of Meckenheim (Pfalz) . Since 1938 the place has been part of the Ludwigshafen district, which has been called Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis since 2004 . After the Second World War , Alsheim-Gronau became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . As part of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform, Alsheim-Gronau was merged with the neighboring community of Rödersheim to form the new local community of Rödersheim-Gronau on June 7, 1969 . As a result, the part of the name “Alsheim” disappeared, so that the district is now officially referred to as “Gronau”.
