The Gropenborn is a tributary of the Sieber , northeast of Sieber in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony . It rises at an altitude of over 560 m and mostly flows in a north-westerly direction, separating it from the Gropenbornskopf from the Sieber. After almost 2 km of the river, it finally flows into the Sieber at an altitude of less than 340 m in Sieber.

The near-natural Gropenborn is a flowing water of quality class I-II . The dominant group of organisms are caddis flies with 12 species.
