Grotta Scritta
The Grotta Scritta I and II (also called Grotta della Susini ) are located at around 470 m in Olmeta-di-Capocorso just south of the municipal boundary of Nonza in the Haute-Corse department on the French island of Corsica .
The only cave paintings on the island have been found in the cave , which has been in use since prehistoric times . The ceramics findings show that the images from the Corsican Neolithic of the cardial or imprint culture are the oldest cultural evidence on Corsica. Arrowheads of obsidian prove contacts with Sardinia . Several of the eight better preserved petroglyphs in red ocher show anthropomorphic forms, the rest mostly linear patterns. The poorly protected images are at great risk.
