Groveport is a village in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. In 2014 the place had 5672 inhabitants. Groveport was the hometown of John Solomon Rarey , a nineteenth-century horse whisperer and developer of the rarey technique to rehabilitate horses. This method was the basis for the novel and film The Horse Whisperer .

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Groveport was inhabited by 3865 people. The population density was 186.5 people per km². There were 1668 housing units at an average of 80.5 per km ². Groveport's population was 92.88% White , 3.62% Black or African American , 0.62% Native American , 1.09% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.57% said to be of other races and 1.22% named two or more races. 1.27% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.

The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.94.
