The Urbanus mine is a former lignite mine in the Bensberg ore district in Bergisch Gladbach . The site belongs to the Heidkamp district .

history

Urban Odenthal's first suggestion of Gronau on October 10, 1839 for a "brown coal warehouse" in the "Wiese Scheid Gronauer Mühlenbusch" was followed by another suggestion on December 21, 1840. This and another on June 21, 1841 led to a field inspection on August 2, 1841, when the building was determined. It gave Odenthal on 4 November 1841, the mine field Urbanus on lignite.

business

In July 1852 seven workers and a steiger were employed , who together produced tons of lignite from April to June 2017. In October 1852 the mining of "coarse coals" and "small coals " was reported again. Nine workers and a steiger were employed. In the following period there were repeated deadlines . There are no further references to construction activities.

Location and relics

It is not known where the site of the mine was found, especially since there is no award list in the eligibility file. Therefore, the location of the mine field can only be described approximately. To the north it bordered the mining field. Undisputed find in the Scheidbach area. After the Ludwigshoffnung mine was awarded, the border in the southwest was Richard-Zanders-Straße.
