The Volta mine is a former non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Lohmar . The pit field was between Dahlhaus and Aggerhütte .

history

Under the name Im Hau there was a first suspicion of lead and zinc on April 14, 1854. It was expanded on August 9, 1855 to include lead, zinc blende and copper ores . The field survey on February 29, 1856 was followed by the award to Baron Albert Behr zu Ongrée near Liège on August 16, 1856 . Since May 19, 1894, the mining, lead and zinc production company in Stolberg was the new owner.

Operation and facilities

The Berechtsamsakte includes several 1905 annual reports on experimental work. They began in 1905 with nine workers, the old tunnels of the mine Volta aufzuwältigen and put a cross heading towards the Pingenzug of Waldfiebig gangs on. In the following year, 1906, to investigate the Waldfiebig corridor, a cross passage was driven from the tunnel in a south-westerly direction, which opened up a 10-meter-long “friendly” lead ore corridor. On the Waldfiebig corridor in 1907, 20 workers developed an ore material about 0.6 meters thick and 60 meters long. 1908 26 workers were busy, several About fractions to examine and 16 meters deep Gesenksohle. The result was not enough. After a few more unsuccessful attempts with three workers, the company was closed in 1907. The pile of debris lying above was subjected to manual separation. This resulted in a production of 57 t of lead ore and 15 t of zinc ore. The shaft was then filled . It was a busy old mining industry. The route network would have had a total length of 650 m. The ore resources would have been 30 m long.
