Grumello is a sub-zone in the Italian wine-growing region Valtellina Superiore in Valtellina ( province of Sondrio , region of Lombardy ). The following DOC and DOCG wines are produced in this zone :

Surname

The name comes from the place Grumello del Monte . The name comes from the Latin word "Grumus" which means hill.

Manufacturing

The cultivation area is between 350 meters above sea ​​level and 650 meters above sea level. The wine is fermented with controlled fermentation and then stored for about eighteen months in barrels, where it matures . It then matures in the bottle for at least nine months before it goes on sale.

Taste and appearance

Grumello is a red-brown to ruby ​​red wine that should have a temperature of around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius .

The wine goes well with red and white meat, game dishes , baked vegetables as well as salami , ham and cheese .
