Vineyard in Grumello

Grumello is a sub-zone in the Italian wine-growing region Valtellina Superiore in Valtellina ( province of Sondrio , region of Lombardy ). The following DOC and DOCG wines are produced in this zone :

Valtellina Superiore (DOCG red wines from the Nebbiolo vine)
Valtellina Rosso (DOC red wines)
Terre del Colleoni (DOC white and red wines and sparkling wines )
Valcalepio (DOC white and red wines and a passito )

Surname

The name comes from the place Grumello del Monte . The name comes from the Latin word "Grumus" which means hill.

Manufacturing

The cultivation area is between 350 meters above sea level and 650 meters above sea level. The wine is fermented with controlled fermentation and then stored for about eighteen months in barrels, where it matures . It then matures in the bottle for at least nine months before it goes on sale.

Taste and appearance

Grumello is a red-brown to ruby red wine that should have a temperature of around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius .

The wine goes well with red and white meat, game dishes , baked vegetables as well as salami , ham and cheese .
