The Grundarhverfi is a settlement in the capital area of Iceland .

It is located on the Kjalarnes peninsula west of the ring road R1 and south of Brautarholtsvegurs H458. 614 inhabitants live here (as of January 1, 2019) . Grundarhverfi is now part of Reykjavík Municipality ( Reykjavíkurborg ). Before 1998 it was still in the previously independent municipality of Kjalarneshreppur. The area is an exclave and can only be reached by land via the municipality of Mosfellsbær . The distance is 29 kilometers of road.
