Guðmundur Gíslason Hagalín

Guðmundur Gíslason Hagalín (born October 10, 1898 in Lokinhamrar in Arnarfjörður , † February 26, 1985 in Akranes ) was an Icelandic writer.

Life

He was born to a wealthy family of beach farmers in the far northwest of Iceland. After completing secondary school, he attended a high school in Reykjavík for a year and then worked as a deep sea fisherman. He has worked in various places as a journalist, editor, parliamentary secretary and postal worker. In Ísafjörður he worked from 1929 to 1946 as a librarian, teacher, editor and other professions. There he was also a city councilor. After 1946 he was resident again in different places.

He wrote various novels and short stories. The action is often set in the Icelandic Westfjords . He also wrote biographies of Icelandic personalities.
