Guðrið Hansdóttir writes her own songs and sings in English and Faroese . Her songs are about unhappy love, life, weather and loneliness on the isolated and stormy islands. In terms of clothing in the 1980s, her music is reminiscent of Jethro Tull and Kate Bush . Other influences include The Cardigans , Kent , The Carpenters, and Jeff Buckley .

She made her debut in 2005 at the Prix Føroyar as a singer and guitarist in the reggae band pH 5.5 . After the band split up, she founded the rock band Isadora & The Rebels in January 2006 and appeared as a guest singer on Petur Pólson's album Koma (still under the name Guðrið Hansen). Since January 2007 she has been playing as a solo artist under her own name. The debut album Love Is Dead was released in 2007 and was in the Faroese charts for a long time. In 2006 and 2007 she performed on the G! Festival and the summer festival in Klaksvík . In 2008 she was at the Spot Festival in Århus, Denmark.

The newspaper Sosialurin nominated her as the best Faroese singer in 2005, 2006 and 2007. At the third attempt, she was surprisingly instead of Eivør Pálsdóttir .

In June 2009 her second album The Sky Is Opening was released . It received excellent reviews and was very well received by the public.

In 2013 she founded the electro-pop duo Byrta [ ˈbɪʃta ] together with Janus Rasmussen from the Icelandic-Faroese band Bloodgroup . Her songs are exclusively in Faroese.
