Guadalupe Pineda (born February 23, 1955 in Guadalajara ) is a Mexican singer.

Life

Pineda performed as a singer in clubs and cafes while studying sociology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During this time she founded two groups: La propuesta and Sanampay and began a career as a solo singer. In 1984 she had her breakthrough with the recording of Yolanda ( Te amo ).

She then had appearances at major Mexican houses such as the Teatro de Bellas Artes , La Sala Nezahualcóyotl , the Auditorio Nacional , the Teatro de la Ciudad de México , the Teatro Degollado and the Teatro Juárez . Her repertoire ranges from bolero and tango to ballads and ranchera to classical song and opera. She sang compositions by José Alfredo Jiménez , Agustín Lara , Violeta Parra , Pablo Milanés , Carlos Gardel , Edith Piaf , Charles Aznavour , Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert, among others .

Pineda went on concert tours through the USA, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Argentina and Colombia and stood with musicians such as Mireille Mathieu , Linda Ronstadt , Pablo Milanés , Rocío Dúrcal , Fernando de la Mora , Antonio Aguilar and Armando Manzanero on stage.

In 2006 she accepted an invitation from Mercedes Sosa to the Teatro Colón , and in 2009 she performed in the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral . By 2015 she recorded 29 albums, the last on her own label inter-sound .
