Guaranteed ( dt. Guaranteed) is one of Eddie Vedder , the lead singer of Pearl Jam , written song from the soundtrack of Into the Wild from 2007. It's the last song on the album, which also includes a bonus track of Guaranteed ( " Humming Vocal " ), which follows the regular version after a good two minutes of silence.

text

Like the other numbers on the CD , Guaranteed is based on the story of the American hiker Christopher McCandless . After graduating from Emory University in 1990 as one of the best, McCandless decided to give up all his savings and cash and tour the United States . In April 1992 he hitchhiked to Alaska in the hope of living in seclusion for a while with little food and equipment in the wilderness . Almost five months later he starved to death near Denali National Park . Director Sean Penn said that as soon as he heard the song, he "just felt that this was sure to be the musical voice of [actor] Emile [Hirsch's] character." Eddie Vedder said that the lines “Don't come closer or I'll have to go / Owning me like gravity are places that pull / If ever there was someone to keep me at home / It would be you” ( Don't come closer , or I have to go / Places that attract take hold of me like gravity / Should anyone ever hold me home / Was it you ) for McCandless' sister Carine.
