Guarionex Aquino (percussionist)

Guarionex Aquino (* 1954 in Mao ) is a Dominican jazz percussionist.

The son of the singer Guarionex Aquino began his musical career as a drummer in rock and funk bands and performed with Luís José Mella , Guillo Carías and his group 4 + 1 and Manuel Tejada , among others . He soon worked with foreign musicians such as Bob James , Ernesto Pascoal , Flora Purim , Don Alias , Giovanni Hidalgo , Néstor Torres , Dave Valentin , Tânia Maria , Airto Moreira , Paquito D'Rivera , Mario Rivera , Don Cherry , Jeffrey Hollander and Michel Camilo together and accompanied Dominican musicians such as Maridalia Hernández , Sonia Silvestre and Juan Luís Guerra . In 2002 he took part in the Marciac Jazz Festival in France at the invitation of Michel Camilo . In 2003 Aquino founded the percussion group Cuero Madera y Metal with the percussionists Fellé Vega , Isidro Bobadilla , David Almengod , Eddy Sánchez and Carlos Staci .
