Gubernium

The Gubernium (neulat.) Is the political administration of a governorate district.

From 1763, the government of a province of the Habsburg monarchy was called a gubernium, which corresponded to a crown land or could combine several or larger parts of it. This was led by a gubernial president or gubernator , who was later also designated governor or land marshal. In the larger provincial districts , several district offices were subordinate to the gubernium , which functioned as the lowest level of the state authority. Smaller administrative districts took over these tasks themselves and were immediate supervisory bodies on the basic rule applied local governments.

1848 gouvernements were the Lieutenancies replaced that existed until the dissolution of the monarchy in 1918 and then by states have been replaced. Things related to the gubernium were called gubernial . So the title Gubernialrat existed .
