Guido Gerlach

Guido Gerlach (born August 12, 1810 in Eisenberg (Thuringia) ; † September 16, 1904 there ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of an official commissioner, Gerlach studied law in Jena and Heidelberg after attending the Christian high school in Eisenberg and the Friedrich high school in Altenburg . During his studies he became a member of the Jena fraternity in 1829 , of the Germania Jena fraternity in 1830 and of the Franconia fraternity in Heidelberg in 1831 . In 1832 he took part in the Hambach Festival . After he had passed his second legal exam in 1834 , he worked as a notary and auditor at the Eisenberg municipal court. After he was interrogated in 1833 for his Burschenschaft union activities, he was arrested in 1835 and five years in 1836 imprisonment convicted, he held until his pardon in 1837 prison Leuchtenburg in Kahla was serving. It was entered in the Black Book of the Frankfurt Central Authority (1833-1838). He was again approved as a notary and lawyer and in 1837 became an unskilled worker and auditor for the city council in Schmölln and Eisenberg. In 1841 he was elected town clerk for the municipality of Eisenberg. From 1848 to 1854 he was a member of the state parliament for Eisenberg . In 1850 he was appointed city clerk and city counsel of Altenburg selected. In 1862 he was awarded the title of Councilor of Justice . In 1869 he retired.
