Guido Pedroli

Guido Pedroli (born May 21, 1928 in Bellinzona ; † June 28, 1962 in Locarno ) was a Swiss educator and politician .

Life

Guido Pedroli was the son of Ernesto Pedro, owner of a branch of Linoleum AG in Turin , and his wife Eva (née Carmine). His brother was the medic Sandro Pedroli (born May 5, 1923 in Bellinzona; † June 18, 2019).

During his childhood the family moved from Ticino to Turin, where he came into contact with the Italian resistance during the Second World War .

From 1946 to 1950 he studied philosophy at the University of Turin and finished his studies with a thesis on Max Scheler , which was published in 1952. In 1951 he began teaching at the Progymnasium in Locarno and later switched to the teachers' seminar there . In 1961 he became a private lecturer in philosophy at the University of Rome .

Guido Pedroli was married to Rosmarie Christen for the first time and to Nelly Anderegg for the second time.

Political activity

In 1952 he joined the Social Democratic Party , worked with the Young Socialists and was a member of management. Guido Pedroli was a formative figure in the socialist movement in the canton of Ticino.

Writing

From 1952 to 1962 he wrote for Libera Stampa and from 1953 to 1957 for the cultural magazine Svizzera italiana . In 1958 he wrote some studies on Edmund Husserl . His most famous work was Il Socialismo nella Svizzera italiana: 1880-1922 .
